...but for foot in mouth disease.

How can anyone still take this pompous blowhard seriously and still think he's being mistreated and misjudged?

Baloney, the guy's a racist and always has been.

Speaking of has beens....

Remember FLUSH RUSH!

Posted by: jimshiz Oct 10 2003, 09:19 PM
I still take him seriously.

Is McNabb overrated? Are the Eagles successful or not because of McNabb? Is there any truth at all to the possibility that the media was hyping McNabb for "political" reasons?

These are pretty much Yes/No questions. If my opinion is that the answer to ANY of these questions is "Yes", then am I a racist?

My opinion is that Rush is not pompous. Rush is not a blowhard. Some people do mistreat him. Some people do misjudge him.

With all that said, Rush could have tempered his remarks on ESPN by pointing out that McNabb was getting greater publicity than other "black" quarterbacks who actually are doing much better and deserve more publicity and credit than McNabb.

Here's the exact quote FYI:
"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well," said Limbaugh. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

Here's a simple retort and I certainly hope SDS is paying attention as well:

What the hell did this matter ever have to do with race in the first place until Limbaugh stuck his vast right wing conspiracy theories into
into a situation where none had ever existed previously.

My good friend Dave McBride from down in Kings county already listed Limbaugh's racist tendancies here on Mickey's original
Rush thread (though Dave, you should know better than to crib from fairness and accuracy in Media) so there is no doubt that Limbaugh injected race
into a situation where it wasn't called for. The fact that he was fired/quit what ever the hell you want to call it isn't in question here.

What should be questioned is giving a bigot a platform to shout out racist bile.

ESPN should still be ashamed of themselves.

You need to learn to spell, haha, you're worse then me! jeesh!

Rush said nothing racist, break it down to logical argumentative form, and you'll see that. Not only that, but claiming it is racist is mostly entirely a viewpoint. You view it as racist, others agree, and some disagree. The cold hard fact is it is 100% in literal form not racist.

Look up the definition of racist. Ack this is getting old. I'm not avoiding all racist rush things.

Limbaugh's troubles may persist longer than anyone, including Rush himself, thought.
Oxycontin is a heroin like substance and that could be what does him in legally, expensive attorneys or no expensive attorneys. Interesting that these painkillers are what caused him to lose his hearing. Anyways he should be safe in Florida since Jeb Bush's junkie daughter, who suffers from coke and barbituate addiction and an amazing inability to avoid wrapping her car around trees (oh those Bush genes), got off scot free.

Ah to be rich and white and well connected to the conservative movement in Florida.

I see I got two of the more brighter posters (Todd and Boomer) here to respond....where are the rest of the Limbaugh apologists?

Ed said that the hearing loss was not a possible side affect of the oxycontin.
He said he's works in a drug store as a Pharm/ asst.

He's on your liberal side of the floor there 65.

Would you like to back that statement up with anything. Because I was willing to believe your friend Ed, you know, Ed?

My wife said what you say about the hearing loss. Anyone?

Citing sources from various media outlets (all of course liberally biased) Limbaugh's "deafness" (as if he ever heard anyone else to begin with) could very well
be the result of chronic drug abuse.

Of course Rush will fully come out and tell us all of his non-guilt and trials and tribulations in another ghost written "best-seller". Limbaugh has an amazing ability to spin himself clear when confronted with hypocrisy in his past on such issues as his avoidance of military service and his neglectfullness when it comes to actually voting.

I expect nothing less from him on this latest crisis.

Former Fat boy Rush will land on his feet 65, and his listening aud. will be even bigger for a while. How long that lasts is up to him I think.

I don't like Rush Limbaugh, and I disagree with about 3/4 of what he says. Mostly because he's the "4 legs good, 2 legs bad" type of person just like you. How about that! You are EXACTLY the same as Limbaugh because you have tunnel vision just like him!

Nice veiled personal insult. Glad you think I'm bright. Maybe you are bright, too. Hard for me to tell, though, because of the abrasive tone you ALWAYS take here. Are you an !@#$ in person, too? Or maybe you just play that way on a politics board because you know you'll never meet anyone here.

Oh ok, the kid from Rutgers. Sorry, haven't posted in awhile or kept up with the ever evolving cast of characters.
"Ed" seems to come and go, disappearing for days and then returning with a vengeance. That's probably why I had forgotten him.
Seems like a smart guy but then most everyone here is pretty quick with the exception of the tragic Boomer.

Whether Limbaugh's abuse of painkillers caused his deafness is secondary to the question of whether he will face the same treatment most
drug offenders accused of crimes in Florida face.

As a resident of the great state of Florida what's your opinion and what are you hearing thus far?

Honestly, nothing yet.

My feeling is that one of the rag mag. will catch his ass in what ever re-hab he's at.

Plus, I think if there are to be any charges against him he's helping his cause by going to re-hab. First time offender if you will. He's going to be more poplur then ever 65, at least the firat 6 mo. outta re-hab. Advertisers are probably standing in line with buckets of money for air time for when he gets back on the air.

This is actually good for his livilyhood. Just like you said "Best Seller"

What a beautiful day in Fl. wink.gif
