Gary's Toy Gun - We were hanging out in Queeno's schoolyard and I noticed a toy rifle under a parked car. Gary Myszka crawled under the car and got the gun. The gun must have been one of Ricky & Goobie's toys. Grubby, Gary & I decided to take a walk to the McDonald's at the corner of Bailey & Genesee. We walked down Block Street towards Mike Babiarz' house. From there we cut through the field on the side of his house to the used car lot on Genesee right by the railroad tracks viaduct. At that exact moment, I noticed a cop car driving down Genesee from Bailey. I knew what might happen; so I nonchalantly crossed Genesee in front of the cop car towards Haven Street. Gary noticed the cop car too and he knew what might come next. So he tried to hold the toy rifle so that it would be hidden by his arm. But, once the cops passed him, they knew we were up to no good; they looked back and saw Gary hiding the gun. We heard the cop car slam on its brakes and they threw the car in reverse. Before the cop came flying out of the car, Gary actually kind of pointed the gun right into the cop car window while explaining "it's just a toy". Gary threw down the toy gun and continued to explain to the cop "it's just a toy". I don't remember exactly what the cop said; but it was a lecture. We laughed about it once the cop was gone. That was the best time!
